The blessings the new Sacred Heart Hall will give our church, school and community are abundant. First and foremost, we will be able to maintain the sanctity of the church without distractions or interruptions. The hall will provide us the much-needed space to build a more connected community. We will be able to host more and larger faith formation events, such as retreats and invited speakers. We can properly conduct our adult and youth ministries, as well as have more casual coffee and donut get togethers. It will give us the ability to accommodate larger receptions, luncheons, dinners, graduations and other entertainment events. We will also be able to hold wake services, on-site. Our campus will be more accessible and convenient for all.

The parish of Sacred Heart joyfully received its birth more than 150 years ago. Starting as a mission church in 1859, Sacred Heart eventually became a parish with the assignment of a full-time pastor, the Rev. Patrick Carey, on October 6, 1921. Members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church have experienced tremendous growth in faith and fellowship. What began as a humble seed of ministry has sprouted into a flourishing, faithful community that we call home today.
Sacred Heart is blessed to offer a beautiful faith home for receiving the sacraments, enjoying the church’s many ministries and programs, and for educating our children into the Catholic faith. The parish has more than 550 registered households and over 200 students enrolled in our school serving grades pre-K and 1-6. The parish also provides rich spiritual development for our families of the parish through CCD, Lifeteen and adult education programs.
As an academic and spiritual pillar in our community, we are entering an exciting time to strengthen our foundation. Together, we have an opportunity to further serve the next generation of parishioners and students of the Sacred Heart family.
As enrollment blossoms for both the school and religious programs, Sacred Heart needs a facility that can accommodate the needs of our growing faith community. While we are grateful for our beautiful parish, we have outgrown the space available to offer families, ministries and organizations a structure to foster community and regular gathering areas. The expansion of our facilities will ensure that the church remains primarily as a place of prayer and worship for our parishioners before and after Mass.
In 2005, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary and parish received extensive damage from Hurricane Katrina. The school was renovated and re-opened its doors January 2007. The bell tower was also damaged in Katrina and was rededicated December 24, 2017. Through resilience, we were able to rebuild our parish campus. In 2019, we formulated a plan to expand our facilities to satisfy the needs of our growing community. Unfortunately, those plans were delayed being communicated to our parishioners when another test arrived in the form of a global pandemic. But, like the other trials we have faced, we remained steadfast and grew stronger as a faith community. Now, we face a new challenge: not having enough physical space to meet the needs of our church and school. The plans we established in 2019 to expand our parish are again moving forward. Now is the time to begin the implementation of the first phase of our master plan for Sacred Heart Parish.
To ensure we recognize the sacrifice and success associated with giving, we have established the celebratory benchmarks noted to the right, to be accomplished over the three-year campaign pledge period. Each of these goals represents a significant milestone and will be celebrated as a step toward our new Sacred Heart Hall.
